Now that Dairyland is officially closed, how many dogs are actually left? What do the numbers look like? _________________ Jodie and Fran (Frohmader)

Jodie, please read my other thread. We didn't get a final number, and I doubt we ever will. Hundreds of dogs left to race at other locations. I'm guessing - again, this is a guess - there were probably less than 200 dogs left that needed places to go. Even of the dogs that all raced on Thursday night, many of them went to continue racing somewhere else - mainly Florida.
The honest truth is that GPA-WI was committed to taking quite a few if we could get them. I put out a request to all the kennels that we would help, and that we could take a large number of dogs. As of this moment, we have about 25 dogs or so waiting for us, and there are probably another 50-75 waiting for other groups that have claimed them, but that's about it. All the dogs that are left will be safely moved into adoption by mid January. There are no dogs that are unclaimed as of this weekend. All the dogs from Dairyland either went to race somewhere else, went into adoption, or will go into adoption over the next week or two.
Our next project is to try to connect with those dogs that went somewhere else and see if we can get a good number of them back here when they are done racing. We've put out a request or offer that any Dairyland dog that retires in another state can come back to Wisconsin or the Midwest to find a home. We are working in conjunction with other regional adoption groups to make that happen. _________________ The Paulus Printing Gang

I think we can leave it, I might not have posted "exactly" the same info in both places. No harm done! I think we were typing at the same time! _________________ The Paulus Printing Gang

The other thread being "The Last of the Dairyland Dogs"
I was feeling overwhelmed to start looking for the answer to this exact question as it was running through my head, so glad I hit this one first, and the above thread second.
Wow, awe-inspiring work by volunteers, other groups, and trainers/kennels. Just awesome. _________________ Tina (and Maggie playing at the bridge), who each chose Matt, Jenny, and Skin Sister Lucy |
