Vicky, Jason and Hondo,
We are saddened to hear about Wally's crossing to the bridge, but our hearts are lifted, knowing what a fantastic home he had with you. The dedication and love you showed him and he in return gave to you is the true meaning of companionship.
Run free sweet Wally man - those bunnies don't stand a chance!

Awww no... I'm so sorry to hear about Wally. If ever there was a dog who could show that the old guys can still zoom, Wally was it.
I just wish there were words that would help with the hurt. It may sneak up on you at the strangest times. I melted down the other day over a pack of replacement dremel sanding heads Laura found. I hope that many friends and family embrace you in your time of sorrow, and that thoughts of cherished moments drive the sad tears away, if only for a little while. |

Thanks so much to all of you for your kind words. We've smiled a lot - sometimes through our tears - reading your comments. And it's been so nice to hear from all the folks who knew our sweet boy and who remember him fondly. He was a special, special hound.
As Bug (Tim) said so poignantly, the grief does kinda sneak up on ya at random times. I'll be going along just fine and then I'll see hamburger in the freezer and the waterworks start as I think sadly that he won't be standing in the kitchen, ears up, hopeful & cute, waiting for some burger when I cook it...or I see his spot on the couch and it just looks so empty without him dreaming happily on it...
But we're grateful for the GPA community for helping us through this sad time. Thanks, all.

Oh guys, I'm so sorry for the loss of your dear, sweet boy. Even though you're sad that he's gone, try to remember that he's still with you even if you can't feel him right now.
What a lucky boy to get to live out his retirement years with you! Lots of warm hugs from our house to yours. _________________ Amanda & Steve; Lilly; Luke; the kitty kids Reilly, Chloe, and Maizie; and non-greyhound foster Emmi

Oh Vicky & Jason... We're so sorry to hear about Wally. Derek and I aren't on the forum too often and just saw this post.
Your tribute was lovely, and we're glad that his passing was peaceful. Our hearts go out to you... run free Wally.

And there's not a dry eye in the house.
What a lovely tribute. Thanks for that. It's a reminder what gifts these hounds who grace our lives are and how fleeting our time can be with them.
My Devlin sounds a lot like your Wally. He's a big goofy dude with a huge heart and he brings a singular joy into our house. Just by laying upside-down on his sofa and "sprinting" in his sleep, begging at the gate for leftover Chinese food scraps, or laying his head on your lap for a free ear scritch.
Thanks again and, of course, my heart is heavy for your loss. |

WOW!
Your story was just incredible. You did such a great job explaining how great of a guy he was. I'm sitting here with my eyes filled with tears, telling myself that he is in a much better place and that he was blessed to live such a wonderful life here on earth!
May your fabulous memories of him help to relieve your pain! I am so sorry.

Thanks, all. Every time I get a notice that someone new has commented on this post, it causes me to come back here and think about my sweet boy. It's so amazing, the power these dogs have to touch our hearts. Wally's been gone almost 5 months now and still, just yesterday, I reached down from the couch to pet Benny's little head and something about the way he was laying there just reminded me so much of Wally and I burst into tears. Totally random and out of the blue. Oy vey. I'm pretty sure that's going to be happening randomly for months, maybe even years. We are all lucky to have these special creatures in our lives, homes, and hearts. _________________ Vicky, Jason, Hondo, Benny...and our sweet Wally at the rainbow bridge. |
