More articles will be forthcoming. I gave another interview today, so we'll see how that goes. Its suppose to focus on how people can help and what adoption groups are doing to get dogs placed. I'll also be doing a taping for a radio show early next week from GPA National and will post a link to that when I have it.

The GPA-WI board of directors is having an emergency meeting in the coming days and once we get that behind us, we'll get the outline of the plan and tasks out to all of you. Since the track doesn't close until the end of the year, what we'll try to do right now is place as many pets as possible to try to get a head start, but the majority of the dogs won't be available until January 1st, so that is when the biggest push will come.

Ellen

Thanks for the updates!
Good luck with the meeting. I'm continuing to stay positive about all of this... so I'm sending you that energy. Smile (It should feel something like a venti mocha from Starbucks, and if not, go get yourself one, you deserve it!) Smile

Mmmmm. Venti Mocha - that's what I always order. How did you know?

I will continue to update the first post of this thread with new articles as they come out.

I knew because that's what Andre always orders... so I figured your Florenecians all enjoyed the same drink. Wink

I saw this today on Dairyland's website:

) - GPA-WIS Also Adopting DGP Dogs
In addition to adopting a greyhound from Dairyland, we also recommend that you consider Greyhound Pets of America-Wisconsin for your adoptive greyhound.

Please contact them at 414-299-9473 or visit their website at http://www.gpawisconsin.org/

Wisconsin State law provides that the greyhounds are to be adopted to new homes, sent to another racetrack for racing purposes or returned to their owners. Our kennel compound will remain open until all greyhounds are properly placed.

We do not know at this current time how many greyhounds in total will become available for adoption until we finish racing on December 31st, 2009.

We do currently have greyhounds available for adoption in our adoption center. You are more than welcome to fill out an application at Dairyland or online at our website www.dairylandgreyhoundpark.com under the adoption tab at the top of the webpage.

Yes, I was asked by Mr. Bill Apgar, Dairyland's operations manager if it would be okay to link to our site from theirs. Of course I said yes! Happy to help the Dairyland hounds in any way we can! Very Happy Working together is what's going to make this entire thing go smoothly.

I saw this newsstory on Fox 6 over the weekend. It suggests that an adoption application is available for download on their Fox6Now.com website. I have not found it.

Here is the video:
http://www.fox6now.com/news/witi-091122-greyhound-adoption,0,4910719.story

I can't find the app. anywhere or a link to DGP. I did see this as a sponsored link and I do not recognize them:
http://www.giveasecondchance.com/adoption/howto.html

Anyway, the comments to the story are equally confused and a bit angry. I was wondering if someone wanted to post some information in a comment about GPA just so that people have someplace to go if they are looking to adopt. Obviously, if we had a big link on all the news websites, that would be ideal, but I can see that being a problem! The posts are anonymous so I can do it if no one objects!

THANKS TO WHOMEVER LEFT THE COMMENT: IT LOOKS GREYT!!!!!!! A nice endcap to a rough start!

Finally, there is an article in the Green Bay Press-Gazette, too:

http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=200991127153

I thought it needed more detail, so I posted some in the comments section.
