Okay, we are going to need some preliminary help with 2 things.
1) We tentatively need transport for 12 dogs to get from Dairyland in Kenosha to Madison area on Thursday, New Year's Eve. I don't know the times yet and things are kind of up in the air but we will be moving 12 dogs, so I need people to say they can take 2 or 3 or even 4 dogs in your van or whatever and help get them settled in their new holding location just east of Madison.
2) We received a pile of applications to work on from the Dairyland Adoption Center. One file folder was filled with applications from other states - Texas, Maryland, Colorado, etc. Obviously, we are not going to send Dairyland dogs to be adopted at that distance, so what I need is a volunteer or two to help me contact those folks either by phone or mail (DPG's app doesn't have an email address line, I don't think). I want to encourage those folks to contact a local group to get a dog - so we'll want to thank them, explain the situation, and refer them to a group near them. I can draft a form letter that someone can use or a script for someone if you want to call people instead. Actually I think a letter would be better so they have the information in writing.
Anyone that can help with contacting these out of state folks about greyhound adoption? I could use your help. Please email me via the button below in my signature if you are willing and able to assist with either of these tasks. They are both very important!
Thanks! We're getting down to the wire people - only a few more days of racing left and then we'll see how many dogs we really will have to place..... its not looking like a lot so far, but I'm on the edge of my seat to see how this all goes!

Ellen,
When/if you find out the time frame in which the dogs need to be moved out on Thursday let me know. I probably have to work until 5:30pm on Thursday but if I get out early or the dogs can be picked up later I may be able to pick up a few. Keep me posted. _________________ Aly, Brandon,

I'm available for transport from Kennel to Happy barn. Any time works, could probably stick 3 hound in the back of the Honda Odessey. Easily fits 2. _________________ Susan (me), Andre (husband), Etienne (human son), Simon (legendary greyhound extraordinaire), Miss Nell (Simon's sweet little sister) |

I dont have a car big enough for more than 1 hound but if someone needs a second person in the car with them let me know. Otherwise I can help send out letters. I work until 230 on Thursday and I am off on Friday.
Let me know if you need me. _________________ Leslie, Will and Lucie the greyhound and Brady the cat |

I can certainly help send letters. If you still need assistance on this, let me know, or send me the "form letter" in an email and I can start knocking some of these out. I agree, a letter is probably a better idea as well. Wish we were closer, hubby and I both have off on Thursday, but have a party later in the evening... _________________ The more I see of man, the more I like dogs. ~Mme. de Staël

I'm still waiting for confirmation about an approximate time the transport will happen. Should know more by later today and will post and email all of you as soon as I know.
As for my letter writers and callers - Thank you for the 4 or 5 people who've offered to help. I will get that stuff organized and distributed shortly for you to work on.
Thank you so much. Back at you as soon as I know more....

Ellen,
Let me know if you still need people to contact the out-of-state-ers. I would be willing to make phone calls, send emails/letters, etc.
Email is best for me this week as I managed to leave my phone in Madison last weekend, and won't be back with the phone until next week (although I can use Matt's phone to call). _________________ Adrienne, Matt, Nika, Zero, and the cats (Boo and Oreo) |

Thanks everyone. I think we have enough people to contact those out of state apps. I'll be in touch with you guys shortly on that.
As for transporters of dogs on Thursday - I think we may have enough people with those that posted here or sent me a private email. If anyone else really wants to help though, let me know. I'll be adding up how many spots we have to move those dogs shortly - still waiting to hear about when they will be released to us though.
Stay tuned! _________________ The Paulus Printing Gang

I can fit 2 (easily) or 3 (most likely) in the back of my car. I'm happy to help transport if you need.
