We're going to be in a lot of different places, but I PM'd you my cell number. Call me when you get there. We'll likely be in the grandstand area at the first race at 7 p.m.

Okay... I think I want to go down tonight. Where will everyone be? I don't want to buy that buffet...
A little help please? Smile

They have regular menu food that is actually quite good. Or you can buy things from the concession stand.

Okay... Andre, Etienne and I will be going. I will be calling Ellen when we get there to find out where anyone is... but in case you are looking for us, we are easy to spot... Andre is a very tall, thin redhead with black rimmed glasses and he will be with a much shorter woman and a blond little boy. Smile lol.

We will be there too for the first race and hope to catch up with everyone. It looks to be a very crowded night in the stands, as well as very cold. Wishing all the hounds a healthy last day of racing.....

The races are outside, but the grandstand is inside. You do have the option of going outside by the fence to watch if you want.

I'll probably have to go up to the fence. Smile That feels exciting.

I have done it, and it is awesome to see and hear them.

I plan to make my way down to the track tonight ... the last day of racing in WI -- the end of an era. Figured I should be there Smile I'll try to bring my camera, too to document it all, if I can!

Daniel & I will be there tonight. We have mixed feelings too. Our first greyhound, Smiley (BDK's Smiles) began her career at Dairyland and ended at Geneva Lakes. We had never been to a track. Dr. Becky suggested we go just to see what she did for a living. Her owner told us he had one of her littermates, BDK's Nosey, still racing at Dairyland. We went to see her. She came in last that night so we suppose that was shortly before she found her forever home through GPA-WI.

We'll be going to honor the hounds who have graced our lives.

The fancy buffet reservations are full but I was told you can pay at the cash & carry hostess and take your plate to a non reserved table. There are always the consessions too.

I'm not familiar with the layout. I'll wear a GPA shirt or sweatshirt so if you see us...!

I hope it went well for everyone! When we went on Sunday for the Party With the Puppies (with Sarah and Annie), we asked about what would happen to the paintings, floor mats and fixtures but the main office said the future of the building is still unknown so there are no plans to start selling it off. We'll have to keep our ears open. There weren't too many photographs of greyhounds left....at least we thought Oswald Cobblepot (all our greys are descended from him) was on the wall at one point but did not see it this time.

ALSO, Bobby Nash (video guy at Dairyland) will still be working on racing videos if any of you have not ordered them yet....we JUST found out this week that Petra (Make Her a Pet) actually raced at Dairyland. We were only told of her Ebro races, but she also ran at Bluff's Run and finished her career right in Kenosha....living up to her name!
Anyway, if any of you want to doublecheck your greyhound's career, check them on this website:
http://www.trackinfo.com/greymatter/
Click on Dog/ Raceline Viewer and type in the race name. I think it's newer because no info came up for my older dogs.
I'm going to post this tidbit in General Topics, too.

Please post your experiences with the final night!
